Ketchup on your meatloaf? Catch up on the diner!
Dearest ,
Ah! The frosty New England mornings of frozen pipes, cars that won’t start, and wet hair snapping in the freezing cold! Welcome to 2025!
As we mentioned in the last newsletter, we will be offering three seasonal “Diner Dinners” in 2025 at the Bellows Falls Moose Lodge, at which we will share a progress report and some delicious classic diner food items.
The kick-off Diner Dinner on Saturday, March 8 begins the series with a full-tilt meatloaf dinner for just $15.00, and recognizes former Miss Bellows Falls owner Del Bush. Bush, who was responsible for the diner being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, has been a member of Bellows Falls Moose Lodge for 50 years, and, as well as an update on the diner, the evening will honor Bush’s contributions to the Lodge.
Diner Dinners are the means by which the Miss BF team will be sharing progress reports in 2025 including plans, timelines, challenges and triumphs. RFP is working with Banwell Architects and at the dinner will unveil the latest -and very detailed- plan sets. There will be a Q&A, allowing for discussion and sharing.
To date, over $230,000 has been raised from individual donations, with the goal to restore, renovate and reopen the Miss Bellows Falls, leasing to an operator who can
keep providing good, honest, affordable food to folks near and far without being saddled with debt. We want to carry on the legacy of Del and Joanne
Bush, and set the Miss BF up for the next 80 years of success.
The events feature classic diner meals intended to bring back memories of great meals at the Miss Bellows Falls. Del and Joanne Bush were asked for suggestions on some favorite dishes and settled on a seasonal menu for winter, summer and fall. Each meal includes a full entrée and dessert. On March 8, meatloaf dinner, with a dessert of apple crisp will be prepared by guest chef, Aime Theroux. On July 19, enjoy ribs and strawberry shortcake with diners invited to provide their favorite baked beans, which will be judged by the audience. The final dinner occurs on October 18 and features roast pork with diners once again invited to share their favorite dessert pie, which will be judged by the audience. Winners receive a gift from the Miss Bellows Falls store.
At the dinners, bar service will be available, with an informational update at 5:15pm to share ongoing diner restoration progress. Dinner will be served buffet style starting at 6pm. On March 8, following the recognition of Del Bush at 7pm, the band Rust and Bone will play at 8pm (additional ticket required).
Purchase tickets or learn more information about the dinner schedule at the Miss Bellows Falls Diner website. Grab a table of six with family and friends, purchase the entire series, or just pick up tickets for this first dinner. The Lodge is located at 59 Westminster Street in Bellows Falls, Vermont. See you March 8!
